Argument: We could care less; unlike the obsessed FBI agent, I was initially fascinated that the FBI would even dare bug the 'boss' of the CIA. Now, my fascination has subsided a bit mostly due to fatigue, as in the usual case - almost always to the benefit of any perpetrators. Not so much so after "Watergate," say, but since then justice gets less of a run.

From the beginning, I wrote: "This story stinks," accumulating the following list of 'things that made me go hmmm:'

• That "the affair began about two months after he assumed his post at the CIA in September 2011." Me: Much more likely is back in Afghanistan due to a) better propinquity & b) far better opportunity also c) Petraeus "was amazed to eat dinner most nights with his wife" - since returning from Afghanistan.

• That Petraeus' girlfriend sent multiple harassing emls to a supposed rival. Me: Ms Broadwell does not appear to be blonde, and in fact has impressive academic qualifications including West Point. So WTF?

• That this supposed rival took the emls to the FBI; Q: What 'influence' did Ms Kelley have? A: An FBI 'friend' but then see 'shirtless.'

• That the FBI started investigating; timing: "The FBI probe apparently started in late spring" [antiwar/Raimondo]; contrast with NYT's "summer" above - perhaps just indicating 'methodical but slow?'

• That Petraeus' girlfriend had classified documents. The implication is that she had no right - otherwise why mention it: "under investigation for improperly accessing classified information" but then "no major breach of security." Q: What determines "major" in a culture gone mad/berserk about security?

• That the whole thing didn't go permanently hush-hush/be scheduled for burial when the FBI discovered the Petraeus link? A: Somebody decided (some time ago) that Petraeus would be taken down.

• That the original FBI investigator got disgruntled and was suspended then "sent shirtless photos of himself to Jill Kelley." This makes Ms Kelley's 2nd source of nutty emls - but more to come!

• That the same FBI investigator went to at least *two* different *non-local* parliamentarians. And an 'Ah-ha!' - this investigator story might explain why the scandal couldn't be hushed-up.

• That the FBI investigation was not notified to Petraeus' 'boss' until "about 5 p.m. on Tuesday, election night." Quel surprise.

• That Ms Broadwell's home has now been 'raided;' what took them so long?

Recalling yesterday's post; at time of writing today, a google-search for 'Broadwell Petraeus nov 2012' gives "About 293,000,000 results" - ever more bizarre.

What is not so far explained is Ms Broadwell's idiocy, nor why Petraeus didn't just say "No." Look for explanations from NYT&ilk in one of the next revelations.

Comment 1: The mind boggles; did Ms Broadwell have classified information in her emls accessible to the FBI, or what else did they riffle through and how? A raid? IF she had security clearance, THEN no problem (and no need even to mention), IF she didn't then yes, a problem but "no major breach of security?"

Comment 2: It makes no sense, but the threats are obvious.

Consider what's happening here: 1st of all, it's all allegations/insinuations, plus divulging possible evidence of criminality (if Petraeus is thought to have brought the military into disrepute, say) and even leaks (for which Manning and Assange are being pilloried if not actually targeted for 'termination with extreme prejudice'), leading to injuries to the immediate parties, their partners and children, and some mysterious 3rd party (female), who may be totally innocent - except for 'running to daddy' over some alleged "harassment" via eml (the poor dear!) Unlike the principals here, this 3rd party has not been named - turning the spotlight of suspicion onto *all* of Petraeus' female acquaintances. Nice one.

One of the first steps in coercion is invoking fear; as well as this circle of female acquaintances, all US-service persons involved in a little bit of extramarital 'hanky-panky' will now presumably have the shits well and truly up. It 'begs the question' as to what's decent or legal, how such determinations may come about - and made by whom. Recall 'only just law may earn respect,' and IF the 'democratic covenant' is violated (haw; let me count the ways?) - THEN *all* resulting law is invalid.

An illustration of the damage being done was the media siege set up outside Ms Broadwell's residence. In the first 24 hours, NYT did at least three full stories that I'm aware of. At time of writing, a google-search for 'Broadwell Petraeus nov 2012' gives "About 186,000,000 results" - which seems utterly absurd (perhaps go query google management?)

An interesting detail is that as 'boss' of the CIA, Petraeus himself had a boss, namely James R. Clapper. An old saw alleges, "the buck stops" on the US president's desk - but what if there's yet another level 'above' him too, just like Petraeus had?

There's only one group capable of such psychopathic brutality, so the real Qs are how/when/where did P offend?

Some proof of any string-pullers' identity may be seen here: "Obama told Mahmud Abbas on Sunday that his administration opposes a Palestinian bid for non-state membership of the UN."

Me; Q: Why that? Suggested A: Obama is ppp-dd'd by hasbarah?

Musing: By admitting to the affair (confronted by the FBI = TINA), Petraeus has done damage to both marriages (even if each spouse knew, it's now Oh, so public; and coming with that I assume, some 'very bad feelings.') Ditto for the four children having 'bad feelings' thrust upon them - out of the blue (or since it's army, out of the camouflage). It shows us that when the empire strikes back, it can strike back pretty bloody hard - just like the Zs genocidally striking at Palestinian ELO/Os, and just like one of the Zs' 'models' did now so long ago (don't mention the War!)

Fazit: IF (FBI, CIA, the real puppet-string-pullers) were at all reasonable THEN they could have a) had a quiet word then b) let him slink off 'for family reasons,' like so many others declared as 'supernumerary' do. That the shit was allowed to hit the fan in such a spectacular fashion, that the MSM now seem to be encouraged to have a 'feeding frenzy' over Petraeus, should tell us something. IF they don't shy from shooting down one of their 'brightest' stars THEN anyone with a vulnerability should better start praying that they stay well under the trouble-horizon - since there is little to no imperial mercy under such a tyranny.

It simply does not compute. Ascetic, lifetime US-military career, exactly same duration marriage (current marital abode = Virginia suburbs; "was amazed to eat dinner most nights with his wife"), now not one but two floozies.

That any individual complaint (from an at least possibly intending adulteress) about 'internet harassment' from an actual adulteress - could be passed to the FBI - and be acted upon.

That the 1st FBI type to run into a sniff of Petraeus goes "Wow!" - and calls his boss. That that boss says "Stick to it" and they do, taking one of "America's greatest war heroes" down.

Recall here 'means, motive, and opportunity' + modus operandi, the oh, so obvious cui bono; more than likely is that Petraeus did *not* get into Ms Broadwell's chiffon undies for the 1st time anywhere else but in Afghanistan = when he was still 'all in' the army. Nor is it likely, in the Virginia suburbs, that Petraeus was pursued by some further femme-fatale, such that Ms Broadwell would begin an eml-campaign against a perceived rival. As I said 1st time I heard of this: The whole story stinks. Who is hiding what?
