IF fait accompli
 THEN back-peddle
  curb your dogs of war!

US-speak, #1: "Looks like Assad dodged a US bullet."

US-speak, #2: "The cease-fire is holding."

Musing:

Shock, horror! No war (at least until they find some new excuse.)

I have a friend whose motto is "Debauched with ease!"

Obama&Co could borrow it.

End musing.

Syria 'chemical weapons' crisis: LIVE UPDATES, September 9
«22:19 GMT: President Obama said he is willing to “absolutely” put on pause the limited strike option on Syria if President Bashar Assad accepts Russia’s proposal to hand over control of the country’s chemical weapons to the international community.»
[RT/Syria 'ticker']

Comment 1: RT is a Russian PFBC and could be *the* definitive 'paper of record' for anything Russian-related. Interesting to contrast with AusBC; see comments 1 & 2 after article 2.

Comment 2; note: Obama's «“absolutely” put on pause» is strong/weak ("on pause" is now likely to be for ever); why?

Trigger article 2:

Syria welcomes Russian proposal to surrender chemical weapons as Assad warns US over strikes
 Updated September 10, 2013 08:27:52
«The Russians made the idea public after US secretary of state John Kerry made an off-the-cuff comment at a press conference, suggesting that Mr Assad could avoid a strike by giving up his chemical weapons in a week, something he believed would not and could not happen.»
[AusBC/'news']

Comment 1: The AusBC has a newish trick; 'summary points' without URLs.

Comment 2: Since we don't like assertions without substantiation, this amounts to 'dereliction of duty' for a PFBC = publicly-financed broadcaster (raison d'être = fairly and fully inform the electorate).

Comment 3; note: «off-the-cuff;» IMHO, no regime-flunky ever says anything that hasn't been triple-checked by 'the back-room boys.' Every syllable is rehearsed, memorised, checked again etc.. Especially Kerry; we see things like 'carefully chosen words,' and the seriousness here is astronomical. Sooo, why did a StateDept flunky immediately start to back-peddle, saying "rhetorical argument?" More to the point, what is the US-regime game-plan here? More below.

Trigger article 3:

Syria conflict: Barack Obama says Russia's proposal on chemical weapons is 'potentially positive', but he is sceptical
 Updated September 10, 2013 12:25:12
«Mr Kerry was quick to explain that his comments were not meant as a proposal and that it would not delay the Obama administration's efforts to secure congressional authorisation to use force against Syria.
...
The president said a breakthrough on control of Syrian chemical weapons would not solve "the underlying terrible conflict inside of Syria".
"But if we can accomplish this limited goal without taking military action, that would be my preference," he said.
...
Two senior Republican senators, John McCain and Lindsey Graham, have said the possibility of Mr Assad giving up control of his chemical weapons should make members of Congress more willing to vote for the authorisation of force.»

[AusBC/'news']

Comment 1: Kerry says «not meant as a proposal» (= back-pedalling) then (my 'quotes' = paraphrased); 'no delay to seeking approval for force' (contradicting Obama.)

Comment 2: Obama says getting rid of CWs will not solve the problem (der, stupidly obvious), and then 'accomplish this without bombing = his preference' (suspect an outright lie, since that's been the whole point of the 'false-flag' - up until Kerry's 'offer.')

Comment 3: Then McCain&Graham say 'OK; no CWs but that *increases* the pressure to bomb' = risibly self-contradictory.

Comment 4: Their comments are all over the shop - like out of control diarrhoea.

Comment 5: Other people reported to now be in favour of 'No CWs = no bombs' are Cameron, Fabius, Merkel and Ban Ki Moon. Cameron has been effectively castrated by the UK parliament, Fabius/Hollande are a) a real worry, and b) IMHO traitors both class and t+j=p = truth + justice = peace; Merkel is only partly and late 'on board,' due to a fig-leaf from the EU, and Ban Ki Moon is - IMHO - totally corrupt (as was Annan (= Iraq invasion illegal) before him).

-=*=-

Argument: The US rogue-regime game-plan = 'bomb Syria back to the Stone Age' appears in tatters. Either Kerry 'over-egged the pudding,' scarcely credible, or the whole ugly crew saw that Congressional approval would *not* be forthcoming (let alone UNSC), so they quickly cobbled together this 'plan B.' Due to their haste, they had too little time to 'coordinate the narrative,' so many were caught 'on the hop,' and since the 'No CWs = no bombs' actually seems eminently sensible, so the dominoes are falling individually.

The alternate thesis = that Kerry spoke with foot in mouth (still incredible but not impossible) AND that some Russian genius = Putin, (reputedly plays chess while Obama paddles his Empire-Ducks around in the bath-tub) - saw the immense possibilities, *could* account for the US verbal diarrhoea.

Late breaking (as some say on TV):

Obama Dubs Syria Deal a ‘Significant Breakthrough’
Administration Changes Its Position for the Fourth Time Today
by Jason Ditz, September 09, 2013

Comment: What did I say about "all over the shop?"

-=*=-

Fazit: In any case, looks like war (= US assault on Syria = supreme international crime) - is off for now. Bewdie! But you can imagine the gnashing of teeth; Obama's blood-lust being choked off, the R2P coven (Mme Clinton gone but now Rice, Power) all biting their bums in frustration, and on the other side, McCain&Graham&ilk, all possibly certifiable, and each and every one a psychopath, guaranteed. Then the criminal Zs, who thought they had the Golan Heights sooo-close to their greedy, murderous grasp... But another 'always, of course,' a real warning: Beware the aging hegemon.

Update, 15:51; PS Proof of AusBC perfidy, and HRW criminality:

Human Rights Watch concludes Syrian regime behind chemical attacks despite Assad denials
PM
By Mandi Sami
Updated September 10, 2013 22:09:13
«"So the sophistication this attack and the fact that these are rockets that we know are in the possession of the Syrian government clearly indicates that the Syrian government most likely carried out this attack, despite the denials from Damascus."

The findings from the human rights body contradict fresh statements from Mr Assad in a US television interview denying involvement in the attacks, which he has blamed on rebels fighting to overthrow him.»

[AusBC/'news']

Comment 1: In case neither AusBC nor HRW haven't noticed, the world changed latest when RT reported: «12:08 GMT "US Secretary of State John Kerry has said that the Syrian President “could turn over every single bit of his chemical weapons to the international community” to avoid a military strike on the country.»

Comment 2: On the (questionable) assumption that Kerry is *not* an idiot, and as the spokesperson for the Amerikan 4th Rei... err, US regime, what he said was serious; it means that the offer noCW=noSA (you give up your chemical weapons, and we won't bomb you back to the Stone Age) - is genuine.

Comment 3: IF the assumption in (2) is not correct (i.e. Kerry = stark raving mad = bonkers), then we live in La-La-Land, and might as well all go off to the beach for a beer and a barbie.

Comment 4: In clear text: IF the US won't bomb THEN the issue is moot; it is perfectly pointless to a) tell lies (HRW) and b) transmit (even amplify) such lies (AusBC); the world has now 'moved on' to a non-bombed Syria era - and bygones are now bygones. More clear text: As there is *no* credible evidence, *no* smoking gun, that would convict Assad in any fair court (= Darlinghurst, say), that's *exactly* why the US is dropping the bomb-threats [revised: ceasing to threaten "Bombs! Death! Destruction! Stone Age!" – How primitive the US Empire-ruling tyrants really are.] IF any doubt this, THEN they could try my "the face that launched 400 tomahawks ," and read the citations – IMHO very illuminating (= why I did it).

Comment 5: This effort by HRW - not it's bloody business (= without credible evidence; all they can stretch to is 'probable'), nor AusBC's bloody business to give such rubbish a platform - convict them both as criminal accessories. It's yet more ppp-dd'ing = pushed-propaganda paradigm dumbing-down; tumbrels!

Update, 17:59; PPS Can the US rogue-regime ever be trusted?

Of course, following 'beware the aging hegemon,' treachery cannot be ruled out; Syria fulfils its part of noCW=noSA, say - but the tomahawks fly anyway? There's a lot of blood that has already flowed under the US rogue-regime bridge, what's a bit more?

Seems that the pause is over, the war-drums are beating again:

RT:
14:25 GMT: US Secretary of State John Kerry is speaking before a House panel in an attempt to garner congressional approval for a strike against Bashar al-Assad’s regime in Syria. “Thirty-one countries support US holding Syria accountable,” Kerry told lawmakers. Should the US not launch a military strike, he cautioned, America’s “ambivalence” and “weakness” would not be projected onto its adversaries.
The risk of not acting is much greater than the risk of acting,” Kerry said.

That's just the start. Where, exactly, is t+j=p = truth + justice = peace?

IMHO, Kerry is seriously deranged.
