Proof: Belief can occur based on *zero* evidence, as in 'religious conviction' - and look at the troubles religions cause! Also here, 99% believe that "Iran’s nuclear program as a threat to the US national security," although, as Ditz, Glaser et al., including America’s 16 intelligence agencies swear there is *no* Iranian nukular bomb program.

In the wider scheme of things, the US public (as others in quisling 'allied' countries) is continually bombarded = propagandised with themes like exceptionalism, world-leadership, donates democracy via guns&bombs = destruction to those deprived by dictators, is a shining example, can do no wrong, etc. - in the face of facts that prove otherwise = often even the exact opposite.

It is not as if the people are stupid. Proof: Only 50% are, by definition, and some very smart people seem to 'believe' in patently false ideas, like neoliberalism = voodoo economics. Proof of the latter is almost everywhere neoliberalism has been implemented - and is demonstrably failing (unemployment, privatisation = theft from public then toll-boothing, austerity = service-cuts, bank 'rescues' (further!) enriching the <1%, etc.).

The operative phrase vis-à-vis Iran's (non-)nuke goes something like this: "The West suspects Iran of building a bomb," and such is repeated ad nauseam by the MSM *and* PFBCs = publicly-financed broadcasters, like the AusBC. That PFBCs are 'on board' is proof a) of their own corruption and b) that there *is* a conspiracy, since PFBCs must operate with their government's approval.

Note that "Iran building a bomb" is a lie (to the very best of our combined knowledge, and US-intel should know since it's their actual, ~$60bio+ function), so 99% of the electorate are being deceived, and that's only one topic of about a squillion critical ones.

I think that it's not so much "belief," nor as Chomsky once wrote, "manufactured consent" - but more *resigned acceptance*; the people internalise their impotence to influence the so-called 'leadership' (see last para), plus the fact that they get their info from 'people who *should* know' = speakers on MSM + public radio and TV (authority fallacy); they also know that IF the US (or Zs) want a war THEN they'll have one, come hell or high water, so the people just nod to the pollsters, then get back to their Hollywood-TV, beer and home-delivered pizza.

A democracy cannot function on a deceived electorate = one of three proofs of Western democracies = sham, the other two being bipartisan = un- & anti-democratic and elected representatives betraying us, one proof of the latter being the Iraq war = Nuremberg-class invasion (plus Libya, Syria and soon Iran), and another being the imposition of voodoo economics = neoliberalism, without us (we, the people) being offered any choice = "TINA!"

Musing: So far, I've been dealing with lie #1, the US as the world's policeman, which actually turns out to be the world's #1 rogue-regime.

What about lie #2, Israel as 'brave little David?' Well, what do you know, but the Zs actually turn out to be the world's #2 rogue-regime, see my "proof of vile criminality by Israel plus accessories," say. So Mossad has been exposed - what a surprise. What, they have secrets? Oh. But the are, after all, a spy-shop and covert-action shop. Like stealing Aus passports to use in assassinating some 'enemy' in a 3rd-party country, say.

But there's a *much* bigger secret being covered up: How some illegitimate entity, squatting on improperly alienated land (= stolen at the point of $US50mio worth of guns, thnx Mrs Meir) can claim the right to defend that stolen land, and not be laughed right off the world stage – and into gaol (if not some other punishment worthy of Nuremberg-class crimes). Not to mention the hapless victims (~700,000, originally); where is truth + justice = peace?}

{@mojo: agreed; @lori heatherton: There is no chance to impeach Obama, since the US Congress, as most other 'western' politicians, are in the plot together; any differentiation is as good as cosmetic only. In general, the western democracies are *not* under we the people's control (if they ever were).

At least three basic prerequisites for functional democracy are 1) a fully & fairly informed, involved electorate, 2) a wide range of *honest* candidates, and 3) when elected, representatives who work *for* we the people's interests (as opposed to against us; for proof of the latter see neoliberalism transferring massive wealth from the people to the <1%). All three prerequisites are marked by their almost total absence; the people doze before their wide-flat TVs absorbing propaganda (oblivious to almost all outside interests, even in their own lives), the MSM + even PFBCs (= publicly-financed broadcasters, like the AusBC) relay and *actively assist* the propaganda = the lies all real debate is being smothered by, and the politicians are either purchased-puppets (by corporations, lobbyists including foreign 5th columnists) and/or simply evil = psychopaths. One proof are the illegal wars; changes in government 'flavours' in US, UK & Aus have the wars still being imposed on the hapless (resource-owning) countries (Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya & Syria with Iran next and even attacks upon Russia, China presumed to be 'on the table.') Recommend: Read it all; it's short, pithy - and IMHO mostly wrong.

Comment: The opinion describes a key, basic problem. As with Adam Curtis' "The Century of the Self," that a certain group ('The Establishment,' OR 'the ruling élite' (nothing élite about criminals!)) - better, 'those leading us astray' - came up with an anti-Enlightenment strategy. The people were encouraged to 'look out for #1,' and allow any who might need society's support to begin 'falling between the cracks.'

Proof: Since approx. the mid-70s (marked in Aus by the anti-Whitlam coup), it's all been 'downhill' for us, we the people (the original Medibank survives, albeit in maliciously-manipulated = *anti*-intelligent, crippled form). Sure, there have been some advances (electronics tending less expensive, say), but for most it's been largely at the expense of a) ever-lowering job-quality, b) ever-lowering job-security, c) ever-lowering wages, when not d) ever-fewer jobs. See the US as 'putative society leader;' much manufacturing gone = jobs exported = ever-more products imported, mostly falling real wages and ever-increasing unemployment. It's simply not sustainable; proof = ever-increasing deficits, which the US 'pays' for by simply 'printing' $s. But almost every $ is issued as a loan = at interest = %, which someone has to pay. How, who? End-result of such a one-way process will be row upon row of bloodless stones. Contrast with 'Fordism.'

NB: "shaped by spontaneous evolution, rather than by intellectual design" - think about it - can you believe that 'spontaneous evolution' could excel over 'intellectual design?' Really? As if transistors, based as they are on quantum mechanics, could spontaneously appear en masse? IMHO, it's proof of the vandals' (not so well hidden) agenda = actual, criminal intent. Another proof: The <1% getting ever richer, ever faster - not so much a complaint as an evident fact.

Comment 1: The article's content is so bad - IMHO - as to be risible. But it's in the comments (in my own case 1st ~60 out of 410 read), where the true impact emerges - almost universal condemnation of Kohler's thesis. Read for yourself, then ask Q: Why is Kohler pushing such obvious shit? (My suggested A: Corruption.)

Comment 2: Privatisation of public utilities is outright theft. Think about it: The idea is that privatisation (the 'selling-point,') will somehow produce a positive for the people, because (assertions), a) public servants running utilities are (comparatively) inefficient vs. b) 'private enterprise,' being 'naturally' superior. Such assertions are not proven beforehand, but almost invariably disproved by subsequent results - too late! What's usually omitted are the prices (two), namely 1) the selling price (almost invariably too low) and 2) the profit to be extracted - invariably too high, in fact possibly infinitely so, when the public service was being run on egalitarian basis.

Comment 3: Despite more than enough evidence *against* privatisation, it is *still* being pushed & worse, implemented. This is *proof* of our so-called 'leaders' treachery - and as here, *proof* of the AusBC's accessory-treachery. Gaol! Tumbrels!
