competition policy
 increasing productivity
  - and other 'economics' lies

.. a rising tide lifts all boats ...

  .. a smaller slice of a bigger pie = more ...

.. off-shoring jobs pulls new workers out of poverty

-=*=-

Thesis: The glaringly obvious hardly ever discussed, let alone debated;

Q1: Why do 'the people' accept being ppp-dd'd?

Q2: - especially when it means being disadvantaged?

A: They hardly notice it at all, due to (US)MMH anaesthesia.

-=*=-

Musing: The 1st citation below blames "the sexual revolution of the ‘60s" - but I tend to discount this, all the way to the margins. Proof: I was there = the ‘60s. What *I* learnt was:

  « ... kids, be free,
be whatever you are,
do whatever you want to do,
just so long as you don't hurt anybody.»

Next; crime/criminality - follows "do no harm:"

All harm = -ve person-to-person/thing interference = crime, possibly excepting restraining a 2nd person interfering with some 3rd (but recall unarmed bobbies.)

The 'basic' crimes are lying, cheating, theft & harm to some person/thing = land/property or someone's mind/body, up to murder.

It doesn't take a genius to see: "Don't touch things not yours!"

The next two lines of the song:

«And remember kids,
I am your friend.»

Tip: To fully appreciate this post one should read all of each citation; I did - so you can too.

End musing.

Western Powers Have Lost All Sense Of Morality: E. Michael Jones By Kourosh Ziabari 10 December, 2012
«A U.S. author says Western states influenced by Israel have lost all sense of morality and are behaving in a criminal way that is dangerous to world peace.
“What we see in Obama’s murder of Osama bin Laden (in a helicopter strike) and various other figures by drone strikes is the criminal behavior which comes about as the natural consequence of the undermining of the moral law. St. Augustine pointed out some 1,500 years ago that when governments ceased to adhere to the moral law, they become nothing more than a band of criminals,” said E. Michael Jones in an exclusive interview with the Tehran Times conducted last month.
...
All of the NATO powers are run by criminals engaging in criminal behavior. The most recent example of that was the looting of Libya and the disgusting performance Hillary Clinton put on when she heard of Gaddafi’s death.»

[countercurrents/Ziabari]

Comment 1: Jones' basic thesis correct (partly blame Jews), but too much religion; rest = not sex but psychopathic criminality.

Comment 2: Religion belongs only on the margins (if anywhere at all), proof: Since there are multiple, often contradictory versions, religion is internally inconsistent; for all to be free and equal, law may only address a common subset, and only just law may earn respect.

Comment 3: A 'must read' section in the cited article is from "Q: The Israeli regime" to the para with "the Talmud is a wicked book" in it. Still best is read the lot. Bringing the Israeli/Zionist criminals to justice would be possible, just as soon as enough of we, the people demanded it.

Paul Krugman Discovers Marx (and Misses The Point)
By Ann Robertson & Bill Leumer
11 December, 2012
«In the 1930s when labor unions were tenaciously fighting for working people, huge gains were made in terms of salaries and benefits. They conducted militant sit-down strikes and mobilized tens of thousands of people from the community to support labor’s struggles. Their successes were to a large degree responsible for the emergence of the so-called middle class that thrived in the 1950s and 1960s.»
[countercurrents/Robertson & Leumer]

Comment 1: Unionism but worse, the Enlightenment disabled.

Comment 2: Basically, (economic) life has been going downhill (except for the <1%) since Thatcher (TINA), Reagan & Hawke/Keating began implementing neoliberalism. All else is history; and the *proof by result* of neoliberalism's failure (for us, we the people) is becoming ever more visible, like in the US with falling employment (approaching 50mio in poverty/on foodstamps), static to falling wages, sky-rocketing medical costs and general malaise. Continue ignoring these at your peril.

Comment 3: Yet there is no revolution; the people doze before their flat/wide-screen TVs, stuffed with take-out pizza and stupefied with beer - effectively wasting their lives away, apart from the MMH-titillation before them.

Op-Ed Columnist
Robots and Robber Barons
By Paul Krugman
December 9, 2012
«Yet that shift is happening - and it has major implications. For example, there is a big, lavishly financed push to reduce corporate tax rates; is this really what we want to be doing at a time when profits are surging at workers’ expense? Or what about the push to reduce or eliminate inheritance taxes; if we’re moving back to a world in which financial capital, not skill or education, determines income, do we really want to make it even easier to inherit wealth?»
[nytimes/Krugman]

Comment 1: Complicity of MSM + academia - traitors and sell-outs, respectively.

Comment 2: Asking 'what we may want' is good - since in the current 'Western' democracies, we the people have as good as *zero* say in anything. Proof: Sure, we may vote for some candidate or other, but bipartisan = un- & anti-democratic; no matter who gets elected, we only get 'more of the same' = aggressively invasive = Nuremberg-class illegal wars (from Afghanistan to Zionist, via Iraq, Libya, now Syria and next(?) Iran), plus economically, ever more destructive (for us, we the people, not the <1%) privatisations and 'user-pays' = *un*-egalitarian services (electricity, say; for profit anything puts profit before service, worst = medicine for profit, profit before health), all = despised neoliberalism.

Comment 3: So-called 'professional' reporters, and/or so-called 'professional' economists, have had ~33 years to point out the failings of neoliberalism. We the people are still waiting for the penny to drop for those so-called 'professionals.' (Most of, see article 5.)

Comment 4: Same goes for the politicians who implement neoliberalism 'in drag' = disguised; either they know what they were/are doing to us, we the people - and thus were and still are criminals, OR they didn't know what they were/are doing = criminally negligent. You choose.

Stevens warns central banks risk being 'captured'
PM
 By economics correspondent Stephen Long
Posted December 12, 2012 19:18:01
«The head of the Reserve Bank has warned the world's most powerful central banks risk losing their independence after taking large-scale steps to stimulate their economies.
In a major speech in Thailand, Glenn Stevens said bond-buying and other policy efforts taken by the European Central Bank (ECB) and the US Federal Reserve were blurring the divide between government and central banks.»

[AusBC against us, we the people]

Comment: RBA = error, banking swindle + not free market. IF the RBA (central banks) have 'policy options' THEN they should be answerable to the people via some proper democratic process BUT alleged 'independence' is clearly un- & anti-democratic.

The Public Bank Option for Scotland: Ensuring Economic Sovereignty
By Ellen Brown
December 07, 2012
«Perhaps the Scots will blaze a trail for economic sovereignty in the E.U., just as North Dakotans did in the U.S. A publicly-owned bank could help Scotland take control of its own economic destiny, by avoiding unnecessary debt to a private banking system that has become a burden to the economy rather than a pillar in its support.»
[globalresearch/Brown]

Comment 1: How banking should be done.

Comment 2: Again, read all articles.

-=*=-

Fazit 1: A final *proof by result*; 'getting competitive by increasing productivity' means reducing unit costs = more work per person per hour, only really possible by introducing automation (OR just how many of us are slacker/bludgers?) - OR more hours BUT those also mean fewer employees = higher unemployment OR same work for lower wages/reduced conditions, therefore in all cases sinking average incomes. Shipping jobs off-shore of course makes it worse, and there's a natural limit to 'service positions' since people have to eat and that takes $s out of circulation - one needs some top-up = primary production (mining, say). IF most of the mining income goes off-shore too (~83%, say) AND foreign direct investment (FDI) also sucks income out of Aus, THEN our future looks bleak = spiral-down. Simple arithmetic really, and looong known, hence Fordism (from 1908, say) – but now ignored. Since I can see all this, what of govts and their expensive, so-called 'professional/academic' advisors?

Fazit 2: A fair exchange is no robbery - one meaning is workers are people too, so time to share the bounty around a bit better = *properly* tax the obscenely rich and provide all vital services on an egalitarian basis, or tumbrels for the rippers-off + their accessories.
