Argument, general: Recall that in Aus, one votes by ranking candidates in order of preference. Do you (honestly) think that such a process can allow one to choose some preferable future, whereby the will of the majority is determined, and so their preferred policies are to be implemented?

Assad inherited an old system.

That the system was not perfect is clear - where is a perfect system?

Assad tried to improve the economic system; for example some neoliberal 'reforms' were attempted - leading to some unhappiness - as neoliberal reforms tend to do.

Assad tried to improve the political system; recently there were elections and political reforms; well over half the people voted - despite the opposition calling for a boycott. Download a video or the transcript of Assad discussing such things; decide for yourself: Is this what a monster looks/sounds like?

The point here is, that Assad tried to play the game and improve Syria.

But in contrast, some, mostly young people, thought 'life could be better' - on the Hollywood-dream model brought to them via TV (mostly devised & broadcast by non-disinterested parties). They must have learned the characteristic double-two-finger 'revolution' gesture somewhere.

Then, when the 'Arab Spring' came to Syria, long-stored plans were put into effect.

Externally supported subversives infiltrated genuine 'democracy' movements, and some peaceful demonstrations were turned ugly.

Assad's forces tried to restore peace, and the trap had been sprung.

Now the 'activists' are being armed (US-proxies Saudi Arabia and Qatar) and assisted by invading mercenaries.

Thanks to the NYT, we know that the CIA is assisting, with 'non-lethal aid' (or so they say, but who in this entire story is *not* lying?) 'Non-lethal aid' means communications equipment (satellite phones, PC-communications (Skype, video-uploads)), intel-advice (satellite photos = where best to attack the govt. and/or people), training and who knows what other etc.s.

The external interferers *do not care* how many people are slaughtered, also not by whom, although the US has looong experience in developing the El-Salvador option = death squads.

When a 'revolution' is hijacked, when mercenaries flood in, it is *not* a civil war anymore (assuming it ever was - so-called 'peaceful' protesters lose all legitimacy when they turn violent - and start killing). For proof, look to Palestine; not so long before UNGA181 there were very few Jews in Palestine, then came waves of self-claimed Jewish immigrants, often illegally (the UK had tried to stop the flood). If the number of alien-arrivals is high enough, it is no longer immigration but an alien invasion. The point is, that when the Zionist terrorists (obviously superior in both numbers and arms) attacked the hapless ELO/Os, driving the ELO/Os off and subsequently improperly alienating the ELO/Os' land and property (Plan Dalet, Deir Yassin massacre etc.), the hasbarah-ists claimed that the Jews had won a 'civil war.' It is not known to me how many 'rotten apples' (= US-sponsored death-squads, say) it would need, but there are obviously enough in Syria to perpetrate the outrages we are seeing reported in the MSM+PFBCs, i.e. the analogue of an hourly 'Aurora' and a daily 'Utøya' or two - in size, scope, frequency and outright brutality.

To claim that these outrages are being perpetrated by Assad-related forces is bizarre - how could Assad possibly benefit by 'killing his own people?' Ergo, any claims of 'Assad did it' must be (99%) lying PRopaganda. Having said that, accidents - or traps - may happen.

Yet that 'Assad did it' is the exact claim made daily, hourly, by our (corrupt&venal) MSM+PFBCs.

US, Zs, F+UK and NATO have form = they've done the same or similar successively to Palestine (Zs, pre/post-1947 down to 'current moment'), Afghanistan (US, 2001+), Iraq (B, B & H + CoWs) & Libya (F+UK and NATO) in the recent past. Comment 1: Who would doubt that that is exactly what has happened and continues in Palestine (by Jews, 1897 through 1947 down to 'current moment'), then 2001+, predominantly by the US (also F+UK/NATO, various SQSHsO incl. Aus (to our enduring shame)): Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya, is happening in Syria or is planned for Iran, with Russia and China as possible 'ultimate' victims?

Comment 2: War was supposedly banished, post WW2, the raison d'être of the UN. Not only did the UN almost instantly fail with UNGA181, the UN is now actively collaborating with aggressors. (The UN is a composite; member-states in the UNGA, a privileged few in the UNSC, and the so-called 'leadership' i.e. Ban Ki-moon, predecessor Kofi Annan. Each 'leg' has failed, is failing.)

Comment 3: The MSM+PFBCs, whose job it is to fully and fairly inform us, we the (democratic-voting) people, instead tell us lies = the rogue-regimes' pro-war propaganda.

Argument; Candidates for the stupid 'they:'

1. The people who pull the triggers, drop the bombs, or push buttons that achieve the same = murdering destruction - *they* are active murderers.

2. The people who give the orders = the military commanders - *they* are murderers, once removed.

3. With 'civilian command of the military,' it is our so-called 'leaders' who instruct the ordering-murderers - *they* are murderers, also once removed. (Little fleas have littler fleas...)

4. Those who assist the above, by relaying and often actively amplifying the rotten, pro-war propaganda = the MSM+PFBCs - *they* are accessories to murderers.

5. Those who manufacture the arms, AND lobby for their use - *they* are accessories to murderers.

6. Those who support the above, in academia, think-tanks, the churches etc. - *they* also are accessories to murderers.

All of the above comprise the M/I/C/4a†-plex; military, industrial, Congress (US-speak for parliament), 4 = 4th estate = MSM+PFBCs, 'a' = academia incl. think-tanks, † = the churches. The latter should close up shop as utter traitors to their own professed beliefs (try "Thou shalt not kill!") - an ultimate shocker. Then there's the self-explanatory I/J/Z-plex, every single member, all over the world, a filthy criminal - only possible exception genuine, active dissenters.

7. Those who support the above, by blogging (i.e. juancole), by writing (pro-war, pro-criminal trolls), or even 'merely' proselytising 'in the office,' 'down at the pub' or 'out in the street' - *they* are apologists to murderers.

8. Even those who do nothing to oppose the above, by *not* resisting crime, also bear some responsibility for the crimes: "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing" ~Bourke (Disputed, but who really gives a s**t? = the borderline-evil of wiki). 2nd try: "When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle." Actually, this is a message directed at Russia and China: If you do not effectively resist the US, you will one day be smashed by the US, as sure as Afghanistan is getting smashed (still, after 10 yrs), Iraq got "Shock'n whore" smashed, Libya got 'no-fly-zone' smashed, Syria is getting 'externally supported subversion' smashed, Iran in the 'wants a nuke' queue - get the picture, yet?

Fazit: Anyone and everyone, who does *not resist* the rogue-regimes to the best of their abilities qualifies fully for the stupid, despicable '*they*.'

In summary, *they* range from otherwise 'normal' people *doing* (i.e. 'defence' force killers), assisting (i.e. compliant workers), right 'down' to non-resisting citizen/voters, plus the more 'professional' class of criminals, those of the M/I/C/4a†-plex, and associated I/J/Z-plex - wicked criminals all, differing only in degree.

*They* are fighting wars for spoil - instead of combining with us, we the people, to build a better world (and on the way reverse XS-CO2-CCC = excess CO2 climate-change catastrophe). *They* are, instead, crippling our once jewel-like planet's life-supporting biosphere as they murder to steal.

Compare to getting the 'best of all possible worlds.'
