Officials Say F.B.I. Knew of Petraeus Affair in the Summer
By Scott Shane and Charlie Savage
«Meanwhile, the F.B.I. agent who had helped get a preliminary inquiry started, and learned of Mr. Petraeus’s affair and the initial concerns about security breaches, became frustrated. Apparently unaware that those concerns were largely resolved, the agent alerted the office of Representative Eric Cantor, Republican of Virginia, the House majority leader, about the inquiry in late October. Mr. Cantor passed on the agent’s concerns to Mr. Mueller.»
[nytimes for the empire]

Comment: Note; the original FBI agent gets disgruntled (worse to come) so takes his grievances from Florida to Virginia?

Trigger article 2:

FBI searches home of Petraeus mistress
Updated November 13, 2012 17:06:51
«WASHINGTON - High-level officials at the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Justice Department were notified in the late summer that F.B.I. agents had uncovered what appeared to be an extramarital affair involving the director of the Central Intelligence Agency, David H. Petraeus, government officials said Sunday.
...
The Wall Street Journal cited ... After being barred from working on the case, the agent approached a US politician, Republican David Reichert of Washington state, expressing fears that the matter would be covered up.»

[AusBC against the people]

Comment 1: Ooops! - different rep!!? - the stories diverge... and Washington state is even further from Florida. Or did he go to more than one rep?

Comment 2: Or perhaps it's deliberate, as if to show that there is still some confusion?

Trigger article 3 (repeat):

CIA chief Petraeus quits after admitting affair
By Washington correspondent Kim Landers, wires
 Updated November 10, 2012 11:47:01
Title
«General Patraeus was awarded Australia's highest honour for services to coalition forces in Iraq in 2009 and was made an Honorary Officer of the Order of Australia»
[AusBC/Nov 10, 2012]

Comment 1: This article was the 1st into my Petraeus-scandal folder.

Comment 2; Note: "General Patraeus was awarded ..." - AusBC's misspelling.

Comment 3: Now in disgrace, will his Aus award be withdrawn?

A "Wow!" snip:

FBI searches home of Petraeus mistress [AusBC, ibid.]
«The unidentified agent allegedly sent shirtless photos of himself to Jill Kelley, a Florida woman who asked him for help after she received threatening emails accusing her of flirting with Mr Petraeus, according to the Wall Street Journal.»

Comment: Only in Amerika/Hollywood.

One more snip:

FBI searches home of Petraeus mistress [AusBC, ibid.]
«A reporter for NBC affiliate WCNC tweeted that FBI agents were in Ms Broadwell's home for at least two hours.
"About a dozen there, with bags/boxes, taking pics," Dianne Gallagher wrote.
"So many federal & news vehicles parked on Lexington Avenue in Dilworth cars can no longer get by."»

Comment 1: This is the 2nd media-spectacular at this address - that I've read of.

Comment 2: I thought they'd have long ago wrung Ms Broadwell dry?

-=*=-

Argument: We could care less; unlike the obsessed FBI agent, I was initially fascinated that the FBI would even dare bug the 'boss' of the CIA. Now, my fascination has subsided a bit mostly due to fatigue, as in the usual case - almost always to the benefit of any perpetrators. Not so much so after "Watergate," say, but since then justice gets less of a run.

From the beginning, I wrote: "This story stinks," accumulating the following list of 'things that made me go hmmm:'

• That "the affair began about two months after he assumed his post at the CIA in September 2011." Me: Much more likely is back in Afghanistan due to a) better propinquity & b) far better opportunity also c) Petraeus "was amazed to eat dinner most nights with his wife" - since returning from Afghanistan.

• That Petraeus' girlfriend sent multiple harassing emls to a supposed rival. Me: Ms Broadwell does not appear to be blonde, and in fact has impressive academic qualifications including West Point. So WTF?

• That this supposed rival took the emls to the FBI; Q: What 'influence' did Ms Kelley have? A: An FBI 'friend' but then see 'shirtless.'

• That the FBI started investigating; timing: "The FBI probe apparently started in late spring" [antiwar/Raimondo]; contrast with NYT's "summer" above - perhaps just indicating 'methodical but slow?'

• That Petraeus' girlfriend had classified documents. The implication is that she had no right - otherwise why mention it: "under investigation for improperly accessing classified information" but then "no major breach of security." Q: What determines "major" in a culture gone mad/berserk about security?

• That the whole thing didn't go permanently hush-hush/be scheduled for burial when the FBI discovered the Petraeus link? A: Somebody decided (some time ago) that Petraeus would be taken down.

• That the original FBI investigator got disgruntled and was suspended then "sent shirtless photos of himself to Jill Kelley." This makes Ms Kelley's 2nd source of nutty emls - but more to come!

• That the same FBI investigator went to at least *two* different *non-local* parliamentarians. And an 'Ah-ha!' - this investigator story might explain why the scandal couldn't be hushed-up.

• That the FBI investigation was not notified to Petraeus' 'boss' until "about 5 p.m. on Tuesday, election night." Quel surprise.

• That Ms Broadwell's home has now been 'raided;' what took them so long?

Recalling yesterday's post; at time of writing today, a google-search for 'Broadwell Petraeus nov 2012' gives "About 293,000,000 results" - ever more bizarre.

Seems to be more to come, see this:

November 13, 2012
Top U.S. Commander in Afghanistan Is Linked to Petraeus Scandal
By Elisabeth Bumiller
«Mr. Panetta turned the matter over to the Pentagon’s inspector general to conduct an investigation into what the defense official said were 20,000 to 30,000 pages of documents, many of them e-mails between General Allen and Ms. Kelley, who is married with children and lives in Tampa, Fla.»
[nytimes/Bumiller]

Comment: As hinted at above, another source of nutty emls to Ms Kelley. Q: Are they now dumping 'previously withheld' scandals to hit us whilst still dazed by Petraeus' spectacular crash from favour?

Musing: The 'harassing' issue 'explains' how the cat got out of the bag. The 'shirtless' issue 'explains' why the shit was allowed to hit the fan. Both items discredit those actors, as the affair itself discredits Petraeus and 'shirtless' also discredits the FBI. The new 'General Allen' issue appears so far to discredit Ms Kelley. The families (now three) are assumed distraught, and the US has lost one, perhaps two general-heroes. The 'affair/harassing' issue undermines military honour in general and this brainy ascetic in particular, perfectly illustrating shallowness/Hollywood - something for everyone, we like to say. What is not so far explained is Ms Broadwell's idiocy, nor why Petraeus didn't just say "No." Look for explanations from NYT&ilk in one of the next revelations.

-=*=-

Fazit: That Petraeus, commander in two (Nuremberg-class illegal) war theatres (perhaps a mio+ dead), then CIA chief (running the murder-drones), could be brought low by a bit of extramarital hanky-panky never ceases to amaze. That the narrative could be dribbled out bit by agonising bit, encouraging confusion is the mark of a psyop. They've had plenty of time to get organised and present a seamless story - but Oh, no. Four days now, still new details - one suspects that there may be something *else* going on, obscured by this Petraeus scandal as 'smoke-screen?' The mind boggles...

-=*end*=-

^
Update, 16:51; PS - *two* new input items (more dribbles),

Now found an 'explanation' for the *two* politicians, but it introduces a *2nd* FBI 'whistleblower;'

Trigger article 1:

House Majority Leader Cantor heard of Petraeus affair Oct. 27 from FBI source he didn’t know
By Associated Press, Tuesday, November 13, 5:00 AM
«The Cantor spokesman said the Oct. 27 conversation was arranged by Rep. Dave Reichert, a Washington state Republican. Reichert had initially received a tip from an FBI source who was a colleague of the bureau employee who called Cantor.»
[washingtonpost/Associated Press]

Comment 1; Note: An "FBI source he didn’t know" - this is *very* significant, why? *Because* it *allegedly* 'explains' why Cantor (A member of the Republican Party, House Majority Leader; the highest-ranking Jewish member of Congress in its history) - said *nothing* to anyone else (about Petraeus being caught in flagrante delicto, say), in the run-up to the elections - infinitely flabbergasting!

Comment 2; Note: "received a tip from an FBI source who was a colleague" means now *two* FBI 'whistleblowers.' Two parliamentarians + two whistleblowers happens to defeat *all* coincidences - apropos FBI leaking and reps speaking up (or in this case, reps *not* speaking up. Recall also here, my contention: Someone had already decided that Petraeus was to be taken down).

Trigger article 2:

Top commander embroiled in Petraeus scandal
 Updated November 13, 2012 20:30:11
«The shocking revelation threatens to fell another of the US military's biggest names and suggests that the scandal involving Mr Petraeus - a former four-star general who had General Allen's job in Afghanistan before moving to the CIA last year - could expand much further than first imagined.»
[AusBC against the people Mk2]

Comment 1: If you look closely, you will see that is the same URL as used above, but with a different headline(??!), as well as some (startlingly!) new content (but content already included in the 'more to come' NYT citation above).

Comment 2: GRRR! Basically, it means that AusBC is 'revising history' = a form of lying. This is far from the first time for this particular AusBC 'sin.'

Comment 3; Note: With these *two* new input items, as well as *two* ladies, we now have *two* FBI leakers, *two* US parliamentarians and *two* US generals (recalls "Combination Of The Two"[*]), with all of those twos basically up to their bloodlessly thin bottom-lips in shit. Poor darlings!

[*] PPS Shows why the rage might bubble up, more often than not - the heady 'promise' of the 60s = 'peace and love' - was killed off by the psychopaths, presumably 'cause they could get no-oh, satisfaction - or any of the other good, worthwhile things of life. Bastards.

1 comment:

  1. Tracking this story was always going to be fraught; the principals only divulge what they wish to, and the corrupt & venal MSM has no other source - unless there was a serious 'deep-throat' active, currently no sign. Two items float to the surface, the number "four months," being how long ago Petraeus *says* he ended the affair = early July, and some US politician complaining that it shouldn't take that long for the parliament to be told. Hardly significant but we may learn more.

(According to reports) October 21 is when the FBI started to interview Ms Broadwell, and *after* that something of some apparent significance did occur, namely Ms Broadwell demonstrated some knowledge about Benghazi that perhaps she shouldn't have had. However, given the FBI interest, one could assume that what she said was *not* a result of some security-breach - but I'm prepared to wait to see if anything more floats to the surface.
